INTENSE PULSED LIGHT TREATMENT

Hair Removal

pulsar ipl treatment at valeries beauty salon

The Pulsar System uses intense pulses of light to destroy the follicles of growing hair. The scientific name for the treatment is Selective Photothermolysis - the selective heating of hair follicles through the absorption of light.

Pulsar technology produces intense pulses of light which are preferentially absorbed by melamin - the substance which gives hair its colour.

As the light is absorbed it generates heat which, in turn, destroys the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding skin.

Once the follicle is destroyed there is no hair re -growth.

Treatments are tailored to meet the precise requirements of each customers skin colour and hair type.

The parameters for each individual are selected by the trained operator and input to the pulsar system via the interface. Settings are auto selected by an inbuilt micro processor.

What does a Pulsar Treatment involve?

The first stages of treatment is assessment and test.

A trained Pulsar therapist will assess your skin and hair type and will then carry out a test treatment. Based on this initial assessment, further complete treatments will be available to you.

The normal proceedure is as follows:

1. The area to be Pulsar treated is first trimmed / shaved fairly close to the skin.

2. A clear, light sensitive gel, which helps to focus the light and keeps the skin cool, is then applied to the treatment area.

3. The Pulsar Applicator is then applied directly to the skin and the selected area is treated via a series of intense bursts of light. Each burst of light represents a 5 centimetre square of treated area.

Treatment of facial hair normally takes about 10 minutes and an entire back or legs can be completed in half an hour.

  • Facial Treatments includes
  • Upper Lip
  • Chin / Jaw line
  • Forehead
  • Side burns / neck
  • Eyebrows
  • Centre brow

Because Pulsar is gentle, non ivasive treatment, it can be used on all areas of the body for both men and women.

Like all hair removal Treatment, Pulsar can only remove visible, growing hair.

What must be recognised is that there are various growth stages for hair which can be affected by hormonal changes in the body.

Pulsar treats hair at the anagen - visible, growing - stage. At any one time about 50% of body hair is at this phase and can be targeted by the Pulsar treatment.

Hair growth is cyclical and it is a certainty that at the time of any treatment hair follicles will be forming beneath the skin and the resulant hair will show through eventually. It is likely that this hair will be much finer than that which has been removed.

Because of the different rates of hair development and growth a number of Pulsar treatments may be required to obtain the desired effect, with occasional mini - treatments required at later dates to maintain the full effects.

Treatments carried out over a number of years and together with testimonials from both therapists and clients demonstrate that treatment by Selective Photothermolysis achieves the desired results and prermanently reduces unwanted hair.
